1999 International Humor Conference/Conference of the International Society for Humor Studies
At the 1999 International Humor Conference, 25 students presented papers, all of which reflected quality work and promise in the area of humor studies. From among these presentations, the ISHS Awards Committee recognized five exceptional student papers with certificates of merit and $100 scholarships. Program Scholarships
As part of its commitment to multicultural education, Holy Names College established a special scholarship fund for the 1999 International Humor Conference to support research on humor and cultural diversity. Scholarship applicants whose papers were judged to be of relevance to multicultural education were awarded an Irvine Multicultural Education Scholarship equivalent to their conference registration fees.
